Halmstad University (founded in 1983) – the Innovation Driven University – performs Education for the Future, Research for Innovation and Collaboration for Development, and is situated in the South West of Sweden. Today, the University has got some 50 degree programs, 10.000 students and 600 employees.
The School of Health and Welfare offers an environment of education and research within a wide spectrum of sciences, including sport sciences. For example, in sport psychology students can proceed from bachelor to PhD level including applied courses.
A new dual career program “Professional career in sport and working life” that has started in 2015-16 educational year focuses on preparing the student-athletes for their athletic and post-athletic (vocational) careers.
Athletes’ career/dual career and talent development research is one of the special competencies of the University including internationally recognized research and actions promoting long-term, successful and healthy athletic careers.
The sport psychology group of Halmstad University fruitfully collaborates with the Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish Football Association.
