International Centre for Sport Security Europe (ICSS Europe)

ICSS Europe is an independent, neutral and global organisation that pursues a vision of a clean, safe and secure sport. Headquartered in London and Geneva and operating offices in Brussels and Cascais, the ICSS Europe works in close partnership with a wide range of public and private leading organisations, including national and international federations, leagues, clubs and other sport organisations, as well as with governments, regulators, international authorities and the wider sports industry.

Promoting a new collaborative environment to safeguard sport, the ICSS Europe is committed to fostering the implementation of the highest standards in terms of youth development, good governance, financial integrity, sports betting integrity and human rights in sport.

ICSS Europe is the European branch of the International Center for Sport Security (ICSS), which is an international, independent and not-for-profit organisation with an aim to improve security, safety and integrity throughout the world of sport.

ICSS Europe has developed a proactive stance in the fight against corruption and other detrimental practices in sport and addresses emerging trends which further threaten sport at global level, such as issues around third-party ownership, financial integrity, good governance in sport and protection of young athletes. ICSS benefits of a team of international experts, advisors and specialists; from sectors including law enforcement, international policy, sport, government and anti-corruption; has a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from working within sport and governmental organisations such as the United Nations, UNICEF, INTERPOL, the IOC, FIFA and UEFA, as well as national police forces.

Through the “Save the Dream” initiative, ICSS and ICSS Europe promote and protect the core values of sport for young people. Working on a global scale with leading organisations across sectors, “Save the Dream” implement and inspire actions to empower youth through sport, while promoting inter-cultural dialogue and social innovation through the power of its values. Save the Dream is also actively engaged in programmes protecting youth from misconducts happening in sport such as violence, corruption and discrimination. In pursuit of these aims, several projects have been undertaken including:

  • Partnering with the International Association of Sport Journalists (AIPS) on a project that is educating young journalists about the values and integrity of sport and on a new digital video channel that will spread positive stories about the values of sport.
  • Encouraging young sports fans in high schools across Italy through the programme TifiamoPositivo/Let’s Cheer Positively.
  • Partnering with UNICEF and child protection organisations in Brazil to protect children from violence and discrimination during major sporting events.
  • An innovative large-scale photography project in collaboration with Magnum Photos during the 2014 Football World Cup.

Apart from PsyTool, ICSS Europe is currently involved in another Erasmus+ Sport project titled TASEM “Training Athletes for Sports Events Management” (567316 – EPP-1-2015-2-ES- SPO-SCP), a collaborative partnership aiming at promoting and supporting dual careers for athletes by setting up a transnational network of stakeholders that will develop a platform for the training of athletes in the management and organization of sport events, hence contributing to their employability.
